A and Bb. My Bb barrel make my A better in tune (especially the throat
tones), and since it's a bit shorter, helps me keep up with the string >>

I Ok...let's get this controversy started! First I play Selmer 10-G's.....the
Bb I brought myself, David Shifrin helped me with the A. (The A is one of the
best clarinets I have ever played on).

I have four barrels, and an irresistable URGE to experiment. I found that one
of my A barrels (65 mm) made the Bb sound better, and TUNE BETTER!

After a number of experiments in various ensembles, with good results, I now
use the same barrel on both clarinets all the time. This allows easier quick
changes between clarinets.

I also theorize....but have no proof...that my playing is more
consistent...since my mthp, reed, ligature combination is now "extended" by
using the same barrel.

Do any of you have this experience: "Wow this reed plays great on the A (or
vice versa) but doesnt respond on the Bb."? I dont seem to have this problem.

Also...I theorize I tune better (faster) on a clarinet change because more of
the instrument is warm. Again no proof...might be fantasy.

Let me know what you all think!
