I was getting the classic symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome - numbness and
tingling in my fingers - until I started using a neck strap with my soprano
clarinets. In two years of using the strap, the symptoms have completely
disappeared and a ganglion cyst in my left wrist has spontaneously reduced.
The one I use is called the Claricord or something like that - it's an elastic
strap that fastens with velcro and has a leather tab with a slit that fits
over the thumb rest.
While we're talking about hand problems, does anybody know of any exercises
that could help a kid with double jointed pinkies that keep collapsing or
locking up?
