Subj: [kl] shellac vs. hot-melt glue

I'd like to hear comments on the pros and cons of using shellac and
hot-melt glue sticks for holding pads: skin or cork pads on
clarinets, and leather pads on saxophones. If you like glue sticks,
what kind do you use? They seem to come in a lot of varieties.
Do you have a favorite glue gun? I'm familiar with shellac, but
have never used a glue gun for padding.
