Al Chiavarini made reference to "so called matched sets" of clarinets.
And that reminded me that when this term "matched set" was last
brought up, I posted a question asking exactly what was meant by
that term.

I wasn't trying to sandbag anyone, but rather it is a term that
is widely used but not clearly understood. As for myself, I was
told once that a matched set meant that the both instruments came
from the same tree or, perhaps, the same branch of that tree
and, in principle, therefore, should have similar playing
characteristics.

I don't know if this is true, only that this was the sole reason
I had available to me as descriptive of the term, "matched set."

So what is a matched set?
