Buffet used to make a pretty good sax, but stopped making them for many
years. I suspect that the one I have was not made by Buffet at all, but
just branded that way and made by Kielwierth. Either that, or Buffet used
some of the Kielwierth tooling, because they are remarkably similar. B&H
acquired both companies in the last few years, so such sharing would not be
surprising.

I have seen a current catalog entry for Buffet saxophones--all copper body
or something like that, and VERY expensive. The model I have is no longer
marketed, I believe.

Hi Kevin:

I just wanted to let you know that I posted almost the same information on
the Buescher. I haven't run in to any Buffets in many years. A friend of
mine had one some years ago. I have been wondering about the Buffets and I
sometimes see used ones offered for sale. Of course, it's very difficult to
have the opportunity to try everything that's available.

Do you feel that your Buffet plays just as well as a new Keilworth? Does it
play as well or better in tune? Do you think it sounds a lot like the old
Bueschers? I love their sound but really don't like the action, as I think
you mentioned as well). I'd be very much interested in Knowing anything you
can tell me about it. Your taste regarding saxophone sound must be very
similar to my own. You might be interested in checking out a reply I wrote
just a little while ago to the title Re: Sax.
