I use a simple reed protector from vandoren (for four reeds). They
keep the reeds from warping and fit into almost everything. I am horrified
with the thought of marching without an extra reed in my pockets...

But they don't keep the moisture as constant as a closed case. I myself
need about 20 minutes when practising until I am satisfied with my tone.
Then, I think, it doesn't matter in which (moisture) condition the reed
was before.
