The discussion about reed packaging brings up an interesting point. What KIND
of cases do you use? I used to use cheapie "reed protectors" of various kinds,
some with charcoal filters. But for the past 5 years or so I have been using a
Harrison reed case. It's wonderful and protects my reeds against warpage. The
case is made of hardwood and has a piece of glass inside upon which the reeds
rest. Yes, it was on the expensive side (maybe $35) but clarinetists deserve
only the best, right ;-)
My only "complaint" is that the squarish orientation of the reed case prevents
it from fitting into any clarinet case. A long, narrower version would be
ideal. You could place pairs of reeds tip to tip, for instance, instead of
lining them all up side by side.
