Selmer seems to have a few bad habits, and I hope SOMEONE who works for
Selmer or Steinway, their parent company, is lurking here so they can Read
All About It.

I have made TWO requests via email to Selmer for THEIR catalogues of their
current woodwinds, and have received no response of any kind. Do they not
publish a paper catalogue? It sounds like there's more secrecy there than
in the Nixon (or Clinton) White House. Who's their publicity director,
Donald Segretti?:-)

Even better...I thought about trying the Gigliotti ligature, went into Sam
Ash. It had been selling there for about $14 and change at the "street
price." It was now $32. Is there some mistake, I asked the man behind the
counter. Nope, Selmer raised their prices and didn't tell us. He was not
real happy about it.

Ash DOES sell their clarinets. Top (or near it) pro model goes for $1950.
I can only imagine what the price must be in the catalogue: if I could find
it.

"The East River. But it was not a river at all. Merely a column of water
connecting the upper harbor to the Sound. Yet everyone called it a river.
They chose not to think about it. They clung to the surface of things."
