Subj: [kl] Phila.- the plot thickens
Date: Sat, 9 May 1998 20:35:07 -0400

Just wanted to add more on the Phila. situation. Mike R. was the "last one
standing" in the January audition. The Orch. still wanted to hear a couple
of other players before making the decision. During that time (3 months),
Mike R. had to sign with Pittsburgh- so he did. So that leaves the other
players who were heard recently to fill the spot (at least for the time
being). Who knows what will happen next year? Either the new person will
get the job permanently, or Mike may play a week with the Orch., and be
offered the position at some point. It's speculation at best.

These are Mike Rusinek's exact words:
from Mike R this morning (Sunday):
"The way it was described to me was that they were going to listen to a
couple
of people that they had not heard before. Based on that they would decide if
they wanted me or if there would be a playoff in the orchestra etc..."

((So there it is-))
