As long as you keep practicing your Bb Soprano clarinet normally, playing Alto
and Bass should do you no harm. It is a GREAT way to expand your clarinet
expertise. They are so closely related you should have no problems. Just be
a bit more relaxed than you would on your soprano when it comes to your
embrochure - not too much, but enough.
Also, in college, should you pursue clarinet further, sometimes in ensembles
the upper-classmen will pick the soprano parts to play in small ensembles, and
stick you with the alto, bass, etc., so it helps to be prepared. Good luck!
