I looked at the liner notes for five recordings and not one gave the
instrumentation. ;^( I don't have the full score but I do have the Musica Rara
piano reduction. Musica Rara indicates the orchestral parts are available for hire
and, in the piano reduction, list corrections to the score. From the corrections,
I can infer at least the following instrumentation in addition to the two clarinet
soloists:

2 horns
2 bassoons
2 oboes
1 (?) flute (corrections to the other winds always indicate, e.g., Ob.1 or Bssn.
1. The one flute correction simply indicates Flute which suggests there may only
be one -- though there might be two playing in unison at the point of the
correction)
Strings (Vln. 1 and 2, Vla, Cello, Bass)

There may, of course, be other instruments. Don Christensen, if he is still
following the list, may be able to provide more accurate information as he has
recorded the piece (though with military band rather than orchestra using a version
presumably prepared by Crusell).

Musica Rara's address, according to my copy of the piano reduction is:

Le Traversier
Chemin de la Buire
84170 Monteaux
France

I purchased my copy from Dorn Publications a couple of years ago during one of
their sales. It was listed in their 1997 catalog for $16. They actually had it in
stock! :^) AND, they only billed me $44 for it (less the discount)! ;^(

Musica Rara is a prominent publisher with an interesting (if potentially expensive)
catalog. You should be able to obtain their music from any of the large sheet
music stores, e.g., Eble Music, Luyben's, Shattinger's, Southern Music, etc. If
you call around, you might find a copy that's been in stock for awhile and is thus
lower priced.

OR ... you can download a midi version for FREE :^) from Oliver Seely's site or
the mirror at Sneezy. If you don't have a music notation program, you can also
download a printable copy. Oliver even provides you with a silicon clarinet
partner if you need one and it can play either part! Also, if you set your midi
instrument to strings instead of piano, you'll swear you have an orchestral
accompaniment. As I recall there are no dynamic, etc., markings in Oliver's
versions (VERY minor ;^( ) but what do you want for nothing? (Thanks again Oliver
for all the transcriptions you have made and are making and thanks, Mark, for
mirroring the site.)

Best regards,
