Finale by CODA is the most comprehensive and will do the most "professional
looking job" but at a high cost of your time. Encore by PASSPORT does
almost everything, looks very good and has a much quicker learning and
using curve. I have used Encore for three years and like it,,,most of the
time. Only with real complex scores or formatting requirements do I wish I
used Finale. However a version 4 of Encore is on the horizon.

In any case, computer notation is NOT always faster than by hand. However
all future changes, transpositions, adding measures, changing
articulations, etc. are very easy and quick with computers.

Both have academic prices of between 245--280.
