Selmer markets posters of some of the musicians who use/used their
instruments. There is a Coleman Hawkins, I think, for tenor sax; and
there's also a Benny Goodman.
The owner of a repair shop in the City, one of the few places in NY you can
pick up used Selmer Balanced and Centered Tone clarinets, told me Goodman
used to play a Balanced Tone. Now, this probably goes WAY back: I gather
the Centered Tone succeeded the Balanced Tone. What I'd still like to know
is what he was playing at that Carnegie Hall concert in January 1938.
