But Shouryu,

Somebody has to sweep up all those shavings off the floor, separate out
the rat droppings (oh, maybe they don't bother to do that -- what do you
think?), grind everything up into a powder, carefully mix it with just
the right amount of glue (wouldn't want too dark a sound) and then
squeeze it together VERY hard to make a billet. All that extra labor
costs don't you know.
