Leon Russianoff would recommend to students that they try/play the Buffet
mpcs that came with their instruments, and some of his students went
around collecting the rejects and having them refaced, etc. Some of them
played pretty well. I think his point was a "Leesonism", if you will -
play what works and sounds feels good to you - not whatever brand is
"hot" at the moment. It's a good lesson. Some of those Buffets were
better than the expensive custom mpcs that were the fad of the moment.

I have, and I had the bad judgment to be going through my string ligature
period at the same time! Can you say "See the top spin", boys and girls?
Believe it or not, it didn't break!
