Re: Old messages:
Mark Charette said that he categorized the messages by the "Date" field.
However, that means that all of my messages will be in the wrong place. My
computer picks a random date and time when it boots (it's a lot of trouble
to fix, but possible). Therefore, some of mine are anywhere from 1987 up to
2008. Hmmm . . . problem?

Re: Growing Cane
I have a plant called polygonum (sp?) in my yard. A friend has it too, but
hers spreads like wildfire. Mine stands in nice, little stand. I always
thought it was bamboo, 'cause it looks and feels like . . . well, bamboo. I
wonder if I could try some reeds from it? When I dry it out this fall, I'd
like to give it a shot. However, I don't know what to do. How do I go
about preparing it for cutting. And, for that matter, how do I shape the
reed without a $300 machine? Is there a resonably priced book describing
this process (sans cutting machine)?
