I'll answer part, and I'm sure Jim Fay will answer a bit more.

First and foremost, it was done with the blessings of the original
(and still) list owners, Jim Fay and Cap Bromley. I offered the services
of sneezy.org primarily because it's much easier to administer. The
previous administrator of the list, Ken, did not have physical access
to the machine that ran Klarinet, and that didn't help when there
were machine outages. I'm suroprised by how well everything ran given
the limitations that the owners and administrator had to contend with.

The "second" list is the same list as the "first" list, just a
new name and software. I have others within my company who can
help do the day-to-day maintenance on this machine and keep it
running even in my absence.

Jim and Cap mulled over the switch for quite a while before telling
me to have a go at it. We've tried to make it as painless as possible
(however, as some of you now know, ezmlm is _real_ picky about letting
you post! Maybe I'm paranoid, but it'll be real hard to get spammers
on this list, and real easy to kick them off if they masquerade as
someone else.)

There are times that I wish this list were moderated, but all in
all it hasn't gotten to that point yet, IMHO.

The owners are now Jim, Cap, and myself, and we all can do
remote administration. The machine sits in a rack about 50 feet
from my desk, and quietly attempts to keep up with the traffic :^)

Cheers,
