Subj: tenor sax reeds for bass clarinet

I'd like to hear more about using tenor sax reeds for bass clarinet.
Specifically, should I be using the same strength sax reed as b.cl.
reed? What are other people's experiences?

When I first started playing bass clarinet, a salesman convinced me to
use tenor sax reeds. I got a box of 2 and a half's (forget the brand).
The reeds were so hard I thought I was going to break my jaw.

I'm using #3 VanDoren or Medium-hard La Voz bass clarinet reeds now -
and they seem to work. But sometimes they are hard to find in Manitoba.

It would be a lot simpler to buy tenor sax reeds if I knew they were
going to work for me. I'd like hear what other people have learned
before I go to the expense of experimenting on my own.
