I wonder about the impact of charging admission.

For the community college concert band I am in, admission is $5. We
generally have about 75-100 people at the concerts (probably not too bad
for a Tuesday night).

The Nevada Symphonic Wind Ensemble is made up of professional musicians and
sounds great. They usually have their concerts on Sunday afternoons and
charge $10 ($8 for students and seniors). Attendance is around 200-250 and
much of the audience is seniors.

I just heard a radio announcement for my clarinet quartet concert this
coming Sunday (during the news!?!). We will consider it some kind of moral
victory if we have more than 25 people there. It is free.
