Re:Zonda on bass.clar
Yes I have tried Zonda tenor sax reeds on bass clarinet and am very
happy with them. Until now I have used Hemke tenor sax reeds but I like
the Zondas even better. They now come in sub-strengths so ask a reputable
salesperson what strength compare to what you are now using.
Re plastic bass clarinets
I played a plastic Yamaha bass in an orchestra for many years with
no problems. It had a great sound and that was what mattered. The only
reason I eventually bought a wood bass was, as one writer already
mentioned, more and more orchestral music requires a low D, Db and C and as
far as I know there are no plastic instruments that go down that far. Is
that correct? I wish I still had my plastic bass to use for ourdoor
concerts and pits but unfortunately I sold it at a time when I had 3 kids
in college and needed the money.
