Ralph Morgan gave me this explanation about Vandoren's alto and tenor sax reeds: They are cut with the exact same cutters as the alto and bass clarinet reeds. Once one of the younger family members took over the business, they noticed this. The Java reeds are the correct classical cut for alto and tenor sax.

I wouldn't expect Zonda tenor reeds to work particularly well on bass, but they will probably bring a BC reed out in the next year or so.
