Where do you go to school, in the United Arab Emirates? Aside from
marching percussion, sousaphones, and similar specialty instruments that
NOBODY owns, no schools around HERE can afford to provide instruments for
marching band members. One very well off district I service provides
instruments for beginning band members for one year only. After that they
are on their own. When I was in college, clarinetists who owned wood
instruments were provided with plastic loaners to march with, but everyone
else was on their own.

Also remember, those band uniforms are DESIGNED to last 10 years or more.
The football uniforms are throwaways (I concede that they get harder wear,
or at least I HOPE so!).

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
