He told me that too.

Another aside, the audition pool included a now-famous soloist. He didn't
advance either, although apparently he did some impressive tossing of his
clarinet (and catching it afterwards, of course) into the air in between
excerpts. The comittee didn't get to see this, but audition prompters like to
tell stories. . .
