Who had that job? I just played a job with the daughter(cellist) of one of
the longtime retired members of the CSO Clarinet section (30 years) who
passed away this past summer (she was telling me, I will get more details
soon). She said he played either 2nd, or asst. to Brody. I can't recall his
name. She remembered Yeh's name, so she thinks it was Yeh that replaced him.

When the Chicago Symphony Orchestra held auditions in the early 70s for
assistant principal/E-flat clarinet, they had upwards of 300 auditionees.
Only five of that original pool were placed in the finals. When Clark Brody
(formerly the long-time principal of the CSO) was asked how they narrowed
down
such a large field, he is alleged to have stated:
"Easy -- they're the only ones who played in rhytym."
