$3500, as described in your previous post, is not only unrealistic, it
doesn't happen.....not for 200 people. It isn't just a five person
committee who is there....you have the personnel manager, conductor
(usually ex-officio) and other folks involved with the day to day
functions that involve hiring. 200 people take more than 23.33 hours (or
three days). No orchestra is going to take four days to go through one
round of players for the sake of giving the inexperienced guy a chance.

I had a lot of fun speaking with the principals of my orchestra the other
night regarding the figures thrown out.........what great conversation
amongst wonderful players/teachers/professionals.

I sure wouldn't want Jonathan to estimate the cost of building a house for
me.......he would tell me it would cost $80,000 and would, more than
likely (based on these numbers) end up costing $180,000!
