Some of them are truly arrangments....that is, they are in different keys
and the parts have been rearranged for younger players. There is an
arranger that likes to market these under the auspice of "edited by"
rather than arranged by........last name of Gore. Beware of
these.....they are in an easier key, but they sound a bit strange (but you
do get the really cool full score).

Other marches have been edited. This means simply that dynamic and
articulation markings have been added, a full or nearly full score has
been included, and instrumentation needs have been addressed. For
example, the three Cornet parts and the two Trumpet parts are now combined
into what are called Trumpet 1, 2, 3, and 4.....the cornet designation is
gone. The trumpet issue is especially prevelent in the Fennell editions.
Also adjusted are Eb horn parts transposed to F, and Euphonium parts
converted to treble clef - just in case you have a converted trumpeter!
The Revelli editions really just include dynamic markings, percussion
suggestions, suggestions for additions, deletions, and octave
adjustments....but everything is still there. The other nice feature of
edited scores is that mistakes are often corrected and you get full size
music! The Keith Brion editions are nice.....but again you must beware.
I am doing Manhattan Beach up in Wisconsin in Green Bay in a few weeks,
and an alternate trombone part is completely missing from the score/parts!
We have had to add it back in.

Hope this clears up the issue of marche editions vs. arrangments. I was
referring to arrangments in my post.
