Dear Cindy,
I am unsure what "kid" leather is. However, on my previous clarinet(R13),
which I replaced 5 years ago after many years good service, I have leather
pads. These were made and installed by a clarinet and oboe maker near
Adelaide (South Australia) in 1986(?). They were a revelation to me at the
time and I still remember my clarinet responding like it never had before.
The seal is still very good even though it now only gets played when my new
instrument is being repaired. Many of these pads have been on since the
original repadding.

I just looked up "kid" in the Dict. I don't know what leather my pads are
made from but they are a light brown color,( tan maybe).
