Cigarette paper quickly wicks up even molecular amounts of saliva/condensation
in the tone hole. At rehearsals, I can get away with ridding moisture by
blowing through the tone hole from the outside of the instrument. Using
cigarette paper is more elegant, though probably not as entertaining, during a
performance;-)
When I first went to a local convenience store to buy the cigarette papers,
the clerk looked askance at me until I explained why I was using the papers.
She commented that she was happy to hear there was a legitimate use for the
papers.
Try to avoid the kind with the glued edges.
Cigarette papers aren't cheap. I think a small package cost nearly $3, no
doubt because of the "illegitimate" uses.
