Roger, I hire people all the time for my business. I only
reject candidates who do not meet the minimum qualifications
for the job based on the resume'. I publish my minimum
qualifications. If the qualifications for the auditions
are published (and if they said something like "3 years
full-time experience required playing in orchestral
environment"), I'll agree with you. If they say something
like "play the following excerpts", then that's way too loose
to work with. When you write a resume' for a company, you'd
always want to target it specifically for that company, and
you'd read what the qualifications are. You'd also possibly
write to the HR manager to get a better feel for the
true requirements for the position.

Jonathan, what were the published requirements for the
position? If they were "play the following excerpts", then
IMNSHO they should get someone to write up the quals _much_
better - especially since an orchestra is a business.
