It is neither clear nor obvious that there is no financial impediment to
auditioning all comers for these few clarinet openings in ALL full-time
orchestras....just the DSO. Unless there are other people who are in a
position to report such, to say as much is simply inaccurate. I hope that
Jonathan isn't trying to use one orchestra to represent the auditioning
procedures for all orchestras?

I am not opposed to exclusion based on resume alone....unless someone with
a resume shorter or less experienced can be allowed to audition over
someone with more experience...simply because their teacher calls and
asks. Why am I not opposed? It is standard business practice to reject
candidates for a position based on their resume. Orchestras area
business.
