|I recommend against the Pak-a-Stand. It is insubstantial in weight
|and strength -- flimsy, really -- and is prone to break at the fastening
|junctures between the peg and the fold-out spring-loaded legs. It is also
|not very stable compared to any of the other slightly larger portable
|stands like the Koenig and Meyer. One slight bump while somebody is
|walking by, and there is little leverage in order to prevent the
|instrument from tipping over while sitting on the Pak-a-Stand.
|You're better off spending 3 more dollars and getting the Koenig
|& Meyer stand instead.

Agree with this argument entirely, but there are still a few things a
Pack-A-Stand is good for. It's convenient, and it's easy to travel with. I
mean, how much more convenient can a stand be when it fits into the bell of
your instrument.

But, I agree wholeheartedly with your argument that it is much too weak and
unstable, and I pointed out in a message I sent out earlier.

Also, Konig and Meyer stands cost far more than Pack-A-Stands. You may
simply be thinking of the peg, which costs around 5 or 6 US dollars more
than a pack-a-stand, but than there is the base, which can rack up a total
cost of around $25-30 vs. $10 on Pack-A-Stand.

Subject: [klarinet-status] Klarinet Digest status

I've been informed that there's a problem with the Klarinet
digests. I don't have any official capacity in this matter,
but I have informed Jim Fay of the problem via e-mail.
