Hi -

After seeing in a local music store some of the stands that have been
mentioned here, I felt that most of them looked too fragile or whose base
had too small a diameter. I selected 2 of the K& M (Konig & Meyer) deluxe
models. They are a trifle expensive at about $18.00 each, but cheap as
compared to the repair of bent or broken keys or tenons or a smashed
mouthpiece. (Or even a trashed reed, just as the Maestro steps on to the
podium.)

This deluxe model is not shown in the WW & BW catalog and is a little
difficult to describe. It consists of the "cone" and 3 metal legs each
about 7 1/2" long, giving something like a 12" effective diameter. Each of
the legs folds down and slides up along side the cone, making it fairly
compact. I have a double "Pro Tec" case and both folded stands fit quite
nicely in the center storage compartment. (However, they do not fit in the
Leblanc double case.)
