I am wondering what the relationship is between mouthpiece facing and ree=
d@-----. I would thin=
k that,=0Atheoretically, an open mouthpiece and a hard reed would be a go=
od match and a=0Aclose mouthpiece and a softer reed would, likewise, be a=
good match. I am@-----. It seems to m=
e that student=0Amouthpieces tend to be medium close and "jazz" mouthpiec=
es tend to be open. Is=0Athat reasonably accurate?

I routinely use a 2 to 2.5 Vandoren V12 reed (or, more recently, a Morr=
@-----.25)=0Aand a Vandoren M13 mouthpiece (which I think is close) and BG=
Revelation@-----. (Using this setup, I play on Buffet R13 Bb and A =
clarinets and an@-----.) Listeners (includi=
ng other musicians--even@-----. Som=
etimes I feel "inadequate" for=0Anot using a harder reed but my setup see=
ms to work for me.
