Here's another opinion, in a recent "Night Life" listing in the New Yorker.
"The Kenny Davern trio. The jazz clarinet has been injected with new life,
thanks to virtuosos like Ken Peplowski and Marty Ehrlich, but the
state-of-the-art work remains that of Davern: for the past four decades he
has tapped into the spirits of such licorice-stick iconoclasts as Pee Wee
Russell by tempering a quirky individualism with sterling technique."
