|Hi all
|
|I'm 22 years old and picking up my clarinet again after about four years of
|rest.
|I have a Yamaha 72CS and a Woodwind Company Mouthpiece.
|I play Mitchell Lurie 4 1/2 reeds with a Luyben Ligature.
|I think that I might need a new ligature and possible mouthpiece.
|I also need some advise on some pieces I can pick up to help improve my
|skill.
|I consider myself an above average player. Right now I'm polishing up the
|Adagio
|movement from the Clarinet Concerto of Mozart. Any help or recommendations
|would greatly be appreciated.

A 4.5 reed? Wow. I can't even make a noise on a 4.5 reed. My only advice
would probably to start on a lower reed, maybe 3.5? You haven't played for,
as you say, 4 years, and it might be better to work your way up again
instead of jumping right in. I'm not saying you are incapable, but I am
saying that the longer you don't practice, the more you forget, as in ideal
embouchure position, proper keying, etc...

As in regards to more pieces, maybe you should look into some more advanced
method books. I'm sure Klarinet listfolk can give you the names of some good
ones.

Good luck!
