Elizabeth,
WHO ARE YOU? This European friend of mine is a professional
clarinetist and teaches at one of the top conservatories so I do value his
opinion. Please re-read my post - I'm not comparing American and European
clarinetist. I don't get wowed by "oh isn't that fantastic how fast, long,
etc, he can play." I do get wowed by how musical someone can play or how
smooth a legato or (yes I admit it) by their tone. I don't have an
inferiority complex about European players - what are you talking about?
