Ditto. My oboe skills are less than desirable but I have learned a lot from
playing the instrument. For instance, I now carry a little water cup to soak
clarinet reeds prior to performances. If nothing else, I look "cool" (or
neurotic depending on your opinion of this). Also, my ill-fated attempts at
making my own oboe reeds have at least taught me how to adjust my clarinet
reeds. In fact, I carry my oboe reed knife in my clarinet case.
