I agree strongly with what Cindy and Doug said:

>Just how long do you think that local
>music store is going to stay in business if a lot of people start
>following your rip-off advice? That's only one step above
>shoplifting, in my book, to use their salespeople's time and try out
>their inventory with no intention of buying from them.

> If you use the store's services, you should purchase the
>item from the store. ,,,,, I buy as much as I can
>(and order most of my music) from my local music store because they are
always
>there for me in a pinch...

Oh, yeah. "Music stores" nowadays sell CDs. When the few that do deal in
music, new and used instruments, reeds, mouthpieces, ligatures, repairs and
advice go out of business, where will be be?

You may think your local music shop is gouging you because its prices are
higher. Usually that's not so. Competition from the mail order houses and
the big chains who can buy everything from key oil to sousaphones in
quantity are forcing independent music store operators to squeeze their
profits to the vanishing point, just to maintain their cash flow. Even
with the professional discount, I pay more than I have to for most of the
items in the paragraph above. I'm far from rich, but I do it happily
because I want that local store to stay open.
