Subj: Graduates working in degree field

About a decade ago, my department (Biology, Illinois State) had to find out
(at great expenditure of effort, and at the call of one of those innumerable
State of Illinois boards) what the fate of our graduates had been over the
years. The two figures that stick in my mind: 1) of PhD graduates, all
except one were employed in a Biology-related field at an appropriate level
to their degree (the exception was a health problem). 2) Of BS graduates,
50% were or had been obtaining advanced degrees. So maybe things are
different between fields.
