I found it interesting that some states are trying to get away from
the system of only funding education through property taxes. This
was a system that was started about 200 years ago. Michigan governer
told his state congress that no longer would schools be funded by
property taxes that they had to find a new way.......congress stalled
hopeing that the governor would bail them out.......he didn't. Some
schools had to close a month early because they ran out of money.
When politicians run....if one say higher taxes to give teachers and
music what it needs and the other says "teacher unions are bad"...you
know who gets elected. Everyone wants better education but no one
wants to pay for it and it is a shame.
