I am a senior in high school and am an active member in our schools music (
and drama ) department, but I need some help. Our principal is presenting
some problems for the department and I was wondering if anyone had some
suggestions at how we can get her ( along with the rest of the staff ) to
support us. We have had music boosters meeting with her to discuss the long
term status of the program and every time she ushers us that she will do
everything in her power to get students more involved, I.E. allowing us to
preform for the school whether it be concerts or a musical. Up until this
year she has never let the drama department perform the spring musical for the
school. She never attends band concerts. We have had 5 and she was not
present for any of them. Yet, she is at all the football and basketball games
showing her support. If something isn't done to get students interested and
keep them interested, our music program with fall to pieces. Our graduating
class in the music department is 24, which is about 1/3 of both departments.
Everyone of us have discussed the problem with her, her administrators and our
teachers within the music department, but only the teachers show any interest
in helping. What can we do?
