For what it's worth, a couple of years ago a request came across the list for
clarinet music to be used during lenten services. I wrote a piece called
Crucifixus which several performers including myself have done on Good Friday
services at protestant churches. I don't know if anything like this would be
usable in Catholic services or not. It seemed to serve its purpose well when
it was performed around here.
