Ok, I have received the Buffet clainet with serial number 555. The
wood is in good condition - no discernible cracks or evidence of
crack repair. Aside from needing a complete overhaul, I was able to play
it and discover:

1. It is very smooth! Good tone/pitch (actually, exceptional pitch
in the altissimo). This is a classic Buffet.

2. Nice key work - in good shape - no bent keys, and they appear to
be plated still.

3. There is no adjustment screw over the throat A/Ab key, so the Ab
key does not open all the way when A is played. This is a minor problem
that can be solved simply by having a competent tech. add the adjustment
screw.

4. The springs in the lower joint are too light and will need to be
retensioned or replace.

This will be a very nice instrument once it has been worked on. If anyone
is interested in it, please make an offer and I will pass it on to the
person who sent it to me.
