I am the pianist for our church (medium-sized Baptist church in GA), and
I play my clarinet fairly often. My husband plays sax, and sometimes we
play duets (he has a B-flat soprano).
We play different things--obligato parts during hymns, enhancements to
anthems, vocal arrangements--just about anything. Since we don't have an
available flute or violin player, we transpose just about anything
written for a C-instrument. Right now I am playing a piece written for
handbells, voice, and C-instrument--Oboe? I also found an arrangement of
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring for organ, voice and clarinet (might have
been flute). So there's stuff out there. We've found sacred
arrangements strictly for clarinet and accompaniment at music stores,
even a book of classical adaptations for THREE clarinets and
accompaniment (my daughter plays clarinet also).

Just always be on the lookout for ways to include the clarinet. Our
congregation is very appreciative.
