Subj: What really is this love of music?

As a recent subscriber to this list, I have been entertained as well as
enlightened by the posts that I've been reading. But there seems to be an
undercurrent of real passion for music that I have found refreshing and
encouraging. I recently picked up my clarinet after years of abandonment,
and in these difficult times, it has brought me a lot of personal satisfaction
in just being able to get through a page in one of my old books! ( Or at least
what I consider a fair effort to get through a page!)

What I want to know is, do you feel that music is something that called you,
rather than you choosing it? I am nuts, or does anyone else out there get
goosebumps when you walk into a familiar rehearsal hall and the smell and feel
and memories of the place just hit you? Or when you walk down the hall of
practice rooms and hear bits and pieces of music from behind the doors, do you
feel like you're at home? And what about that moment at the end of a piece at
a performance, just before the applause...I hold my breath and savor the
moment.

Alright, you can tell me if you think I'm off my rocker. It would be better
to know than to keep wondering.

Lisa
