Don't duck. On average, it's true. A person with a degree in computer
science (Masters) here in Detroit will ask for (and get) a minimum
of $45,000.00 for a first job, and they're getting hired right and
left (I know - I hire some of them). A person hiring into a major
orchestra will make more, but the numbers being hired are vastly
different. The money isn't everything, of course, but it can help you
pay for your other loves (such as that Wurlitzer or Rossi we may
covet :)

(PS - that $45,000 is for someone with _no_ real practical experience.
Those with 3 or 4 years experience can expect 10-15K more).
