Because the "outdated technology" has a resolution of (on average)
over 1200 dots/in, can be read easily in various lighting conditions,
and continues to work even after being dropped on the floor, electical
outages, or having coffee spilled on it (well, kind of works, anyway
:^). It also survives airport X-ray machines, high gauss levels, and
temperature extremes (past the limits of humans). There are a few
limitations, but, as a computer pro, I rued the day that I stopped
getting manuals with my software and received only CD-ROMs for for
the manual. As an adjuct to a manual, the CD-ROMs are wonderful. As
something I can leave around, dog-ear in the right places, and
generally use anywhere - they, well, you know ...
