I've been listening to Fletcher Henderson recordings lately, and it dawned on me that Buster Bailey played Eb clarinet on some of his solos. I just listened to Limehouse Blues and Shanghai Shuffle, and I'm astonished at how well Bailey blew on the little horn. I have my hands full just trying to play the Eb clarinet parts in the Mahler No. 1!
