It should penetrate (though you may need to get rid of the polish on the top
of the screw, first).

As to Mark's comment (on another related post), I am not talking about
soaking the clarinet in acetone; I'm suggesting putting a drop on the screw
head and working the key to allow the acetone to work its way down the
screw. Once the screw is out, I would recommend cleaning the screw before
reassembling.
