With all due respect to everyone, this topic IS of importance to
clarinetists, as we've seen from the postings querying different angles of
the subject: performance, transcription, auditions, recording, etc.
When a serious topic generates enough interest to go on for days (or
weeks!), why should we try to force it to a halt just because we,
personally, are not interested in it anymore? That is why we have subject
lines and delete keys!
Contrary to popular belief, anyone on this list is capable of
introducing new topics at any time! If your topic generates a lot of
interest, it may be the next one that generates complaints on its longevity!
If you want to talk about something else, then just do it! I find
it more of a waste of time to open up a message that says "Can we just stop
this and get back to the clarinet?" than to just delete topics I've lost
interest in!

Take-home thoughts:
Topics continue until they die out.
A popular topic does not "push out" other topics.
